Why we built this
The layoff wasn’t the end. It was the beginning.
Over 400,000 Black women started businesses in the last two years alone. Many were pushed out of corporate roles that never really made room for us. We rewrote the offer letter — to ourselves.
But the capital? It’s scattered. Buried on state websites, gate-kept behind private networks, or written in language that doesn’t sound like us. Black women receive less than 1% of venture funding — not because we’re not building, but because the map was never drawn for us.
Hearth & Capital is that map. Every grant, every program, every dollar earmarked for founders like you — in one editorial ledger, ranked by fit and readiness.
